Rowen's 3rd Birthday Party!

Valentines Day this year was quite the day! Rowen's Art Exhibition at Seika (another post) and Rowen's 3rd birthday party!

His birthday was on the 17th, Tuesday, so of course the celebration with all of his friends had to happen over the weekend...
The party bags were easy to make...with it being Valentine's day, the NEX was fully stocked in all things candy, stickers, and stuff with hearts all over it. A little girly for a boy's birthday, but I'm went with it! I mean...their were girls at his party...so it worked :-)

Rowen's party was at the bowling party on base. Not too many options here...and with it being winter time, we had to go with an indoor venue. Our main choices: McDonald's, Sbarros pizzeria, and bowling. Bowling it is! Little did we know that it was going to be 70 degrees on Sat....what a day to have a BBQ...but who have thought there would be temps. like that in Feb?

Rowen's been talking about his party for a while now. Presents, bowling, what friends would be there, presents...

We had 22 kids in all. Whew! That's a lot of kids! Would you believe it if I told you that almost all those kids were on his invite list? Many of his friends that celebrated with him live in our cul-de-sac and his other friends, he knows them from when I hang out with the Oakleaf (spouse's club) moms.

I think all the kids had a blast! Having a party at the bowling alley was pretty easy, we had to show up with the cake and the birthday boy, that's it! Once the kids showed up, it was bowling for 1.5 hr, eating pizzas, singing happy birthday, and cutting/eating his Tonka dump truck cake.

Strangely enough, Rowen was very shy at his birthday this year. It must be the age. He covered his face and acted very bashful while everyone was singing 'Happy Birthday' and giving him attention afterwards. Weird, huh? At his 2nd birthday party last year, he was all about the attention! All smiles and laughing. But this year, definitely not loving the attention...

His birthday party lasted 2 hours and then back to the house to open up his presents. Of course, this was his favorite part. He received so many great gifts. Arjun tried to help open some of the gifts, but Rowen wasn't really appreciating the help :)

The rest of the day was spent playing outside with his friends and new toys.

As I watched my big boy today, I just kept thinking, "Where has the time gone?"
Not long ago...he was just our little baby. Sniff, sniff.
