Anpanman!

Last Saturday, we visited the Anpanman Museum in Yokohama. Anpanman is a Japanese character that kids go crazy about here.

Anpan is one of the most popular pastries in Japan and is a round bread with sweet bean paste filling. Anpanman, a fairy tale superhero with an Anpan-head, can fly and fights for justice, but hates violence.

While Japanese children and adults love Anpanman, to many American children here, he's just a foreign cartoon character. Rowen, however, loves Anpanman and that's probably because he goes to a Japanese Yochien. On most days, when the choo choo bus picks him up, the teacher is reading Anpanman books to the students or they are watching an Anpanman video on the way to school. It's actually kind of nice to have Rowen interested in something new...rather than the usual trains, trucks, and all other transportation vehicles!

So...the museum trip was a big success. While we were there, Rowen and Arjun saw an Anpanman show, played in the museum area for a couple of hours and ate at the Anpanman bakery. We can't wait to take them back...especially when the weather gets yucky.
